$45New World v Old World: A Comparative Tasting
In this class we will do comparative tastings of classic varietals from around the world to see how region, climate, and winemaking choices effect how inherent grape flavors are expressed.
Things we will talk about:
What the f is terroir?
Does soil composition affect the way a wine tastes?
Deductive tasting: an introduction to wine magic
etc.
This class does build on the topics discussed in Wine 101 but attendance is not a prerequisite to signing up for the comparative tasting.
Things we will taste:
6 groupings of wines
Chardonnay [cool climate, moderate/warm climate, warm/hot climate]
Sauvignon Blanc [loire v. nz v. bordeaux]
Riesling [germany v alsace or austria]
Pinot Noir [burgundy/loire v california]
Syrah [n rhone v australia]
Cabernet Sauvignon [bordeaux v california/washington]
